And more and more often, instead of a dorm, they’re choosing coliving. What’s it about? You rent your own room or studio, and next to it you have a shared kitchen, spots to study, and places where you can simply meet other people. Shed Coliving runs properties like this in both cities, so let’s take a closer look at the offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coliving vs. dorm: where’s the line?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More people mix up these two words than you’d think. A dorm usually belongs to the university, rooms are often shared, and the list of amenities tends to be fairly modest. Coliving is a different story. It’s a private building where you rent your own room or studio and get a whole support setup along with it. Utility bills, internet, building management \u2014 usually all in one monthly amount. No one’s chasing down separate contracts with an electricity or internet provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving to an unfamiliar city for studies? This model simply makes the start easier. There’s no deposit scattered across several companies, and no separate payment dates for utilities. Reception takes care of most of the technical matters. And the thing we most associate with dorms \u2014 the chance to meet people \u2014 is here too, just organised around a shared kitchen and zones where you can sit down to study or take a break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is coliving in Krakow a good option for students?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Krakow has plenty of universities, and in September, finding a place to live can genuinely be tough. So this question comes back here every year. Shed Coliving Krakow is located at Aleja 3 Maja 51A (30-062), in the central part of the city. Security and reception operate around the clock, seven days a week. Wi-Fi, along with all utility bills, is already included in the price. For a student, that means one predictable cost instead of several payments scattered across the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cheapest option is the economy twin, 18.5 m\u00b2, from PLN 1,500 a month per person. The classic twin costs a bit more, at PLN 1,780 per person. Prefer to live alone? Then there’s the 17 m\u00b2 compact for PLN 2,750, the classic for PLN 2,900, or the premium single for PLN 3,400. This spread makes sense. A room shared with someone else works out considerably cheaper than a studio on your own, so there’s something to fit almost any budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what’s waiting on site? A gym, a cinema room, a games zone, a yoga studio, a dining area with a kitchen. There are study zones, and a \u017babka shop operates on the ground floor. When your day is mostly split between classes and studying, that kind of setup can save a lot of running around the city. Plenty of things can be sorted without even leaving the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contracts and the academic calendar in Krakow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Contract flexibility is one thing that sets coliving apart from a regular rental. In Krakow, you decide: short-term, or longer, for 10 or 12 months. A student usually cares about one thing \u2014 matching the length of the lease to the academic year. The 2026\/2027 academic year runs from 21 September 2026 to 9 July 2027. A ten-month contract therefore covers exactly that period, and you don’t pay for the summer months if you’re not staying for the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is coliving in Warsaw a good option for students?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the capital, the logic is similar, except Shed Coliving runs two separate buildings here. That gives you more choice in terms of location and price. The first, Sky Living, is at \u017bwirki i Wigury 31 in Ochota. Prices start from PLN 1,999 a month. The 16 m\u00b2 compact is priced from PLN 3,049, the 18\u201321 m\u00b2 classic from PLN 3,249, and the larger 21\u201327 m\u00b2 large from PLN 3,449. A spot in a twin studio \u2014 the shared option \u2014 goes from PLN 2,099 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second is Campus Living, at Smyczkowa 3 in Mokot\u00f3w. Here, the 16 m\u00b2 economy compact starts from PLN 2,999, the premium costs between PLN 3,099 and 3,149, and the economy bunk twin is available from PLN 1,800 per person. Having two locations is a purely practical matter. You take whichever is closer to your university, or whichever better fits your daily schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At both Warsaw buildings, the studios are fully furnished. Reception and security operate around the clock, and all utility bills, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning are included in the price. Study zones and coworking space are available on site, which can matter for those combining studies with work. In Warsaw, Shed Coliving also partners with several universities: \u0141azarski University, Vizja University, and Moderna University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contracts and semesters in Warsaw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Contracts in Warsaw cover both the whole academic year and single semesters. The winter semester runs from September 2026 to February 2027, and the summer one from February to July 2027. On top of that, there are individual terms and short-term stays. As in Krakow, the price includes utility bills, Wi-Fi, and furniture. You move into a ready-made room and pay a single rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coliving against the backdrop of the wider student housing market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Student rentals in big cities have carried the same problems for years. Too few places in September. Utility bills that keep rising. Uncertainty about what kind of contract terms you’ll end up with. Coliving tries to answer this in its own way, offering a predictable cost and ready-made furnishings. Will it suit everyone? Probably not. But for anyone who values simplicity and contact with other residents, it’s easy to see why this feels more convenient than hunting for a studio flat on your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
